Alloy’s long standing involvement with the iconic line of Beats headphones came full circle when we were tasked with re-engineering the original Studio headphones in 2013. The next natural step was to bring the same design and performance refinements to the smaller Soloheadphones. But this time we helped develop both wired and wireless versions. While the overall design and appearance is similar to their larger siblings, we faced new engineering challenges to fit the acoustic volumes, mechanisms, and electronics into the smaller form factor. We also implemented a unique and subtle twist in the headband shape to pre-angle the ear-cups for a better on-ear fit. Early testing of different curvatures and angles led to an incredibly sleek and comfortable headphone.
